Lotus & Ivy classes

A Waldorf-inspired virtual program that runs through the school year, where children grow through main lesson work, math, art, and story — in a predictable rhythm that soothes and supports the growing child.

The weekly rhythm

Each week the children move through a balanced cycle: four 60-minute main lessons in the morning that follow a theme for several weeks (numbers, plants, mythology and history, geometry, etc.), including crafts, painting, story, and movement.

The program is open to children roughly ages 5–16, organized into small groupings.

Math classes

The main lesson plants key math concepts, but children need regular practice across the school year for those ideas to take root. My small math classes provide that steady weekly work — whether a child is hungry for more, working their way through a knot, or simply growing alongside their peers.

We use drawings, movement, and good old-fashioned problem solving. As the work deepens, students don’t just know the procedure — they know why it works.

  • Number sense (ages 6–8) — counting, place value, the four operations through stories and rhythm
  • Operations & fractions (ages 8–10) — long division, fractions, decimals, freehand geometry
  • Business math & construction (ages 10–12) — geometric construction with compass and straightedge, percentages
  • Pre-Algebra & geometry (ages 12–14) — ratios, percentages, 2D and 3D shapes, pre-algebra
  • Algebra & Geometry (ages 14–16) — linear equations, quadratics, conic sections, and the beginnings of trigonometry

what to expect

A day in the classroom

Morning verse & circle

We begin together with a verse, movement or singing, and a few moments of orientation. The day enters slowly, on purpose.

Main lesson

A long, unhurried session focused on a single theme. Children draw, write, calculate, and discuss.

Artistic work

Crafts, painting, or drawing — rotating through the blocks so every child meets every art.

Closing

We end as we began: together, with gratitude.
